My favorite class at Juilliard was “Advanced Counterpoint,” taught by Dr. Philip Lasser. Over the course of a year, we worked our way through modal species counterpoint, canons (including invertible), and of course, fugues. Our final assignment was to write our own fugue; this was my submission, plus a bonus aria-like postlude.
