commissioned by the Albany Symphony

dedicated to Zion National Park
passacaglia for orchestra
The Virgin River sculpts Zion Canyon, carving it ever deeper over millions of years. Much of this process is slow and steady, while occasional flash floods alter the landscape dramatically in a matter of seconds. Zion is always eroding; the seemingly permanent mesas, cliffs, and monoliths will all disappear one day.
